Coaches Responsibilities
Help us serve your kids and make a difference in your community! Volunteers are an essential part of DSL and we need your help to make our season a success by volunteering as a Coach. We are looking for you to bring organization, enthusiasm, balance, and a sense of fun. We will help you every step of the way, and no prior or formal soccer coaching skills are required.
As a recreational league we emphasis skills development, equal playing time, sportsmanship, and having fun.
The expected time commitment is approximately 2-3 hours per week, with an hour’s practice held during the week in the late afternoon / early evening depending on age, with a game over the weekend. Note some games may occasionally be on a weekday evening. Please check the expected practice and game times on the website.
Coaches Role:
- Run practice and coach the games, working with other coaches and available support to help the kids develop soccer skills in a fun environment. Emphasis on teamwork, equal participation, and good sportsmanship.
- Communicate with Divisional Coordinators as well as team parents via LeagueApps regarding schedules, availability etc.
- As a Primary Coach you are volunteering to take the lead for a team
Coaches will be asked to pass a background check and to abide with the Code of Conduct.
